Residential Zero Turn Mowers
the Sports Car Of Mowers

Isn't It Time Your Moved Up In Class?

Do you want to mow your lawn and feel like you're driving a sports car? If so try the zero turn radius lawn mower.

As recently as two or three years ago, zero turn lawn mowers were only accessible to professional landscapers.

Today, they have hit the residential scene with a vengeance as more and more homeowners are trying to fill the seats of these sleek mowing machines.

So as you'll see from the video below, with residential zero turn mowers like the Toro zero turn mowers racing over more and more lawnscape, mowing the grass lawn will never be the same again.

Okay, but...

How Do They Work?
Zero turn radius lawn mowers, or ZTRs as they are commonly called, are machines driven by separate hydraulic pumps to control the right and left tires individually. As one wheel turns forward, the other wheel is turning in reverse. This is why residential zero turn mowers have zero degree turning radius as they can spin 180 degrees.. This is quite different compared to a conventional tractor which has a turning radius of 15-30 degrees. This video shows how.

The Results
Because of this innovative design among zero turn radius mowers, you will be expecting a clean cut of grass that leaves no lane of uncut grass. With the conventional mowers, you need to pass through the cut grass again. Not with residential zero turn mowers! You only need to pass once, thus it saves you a great deal of time as this video explains!

They also allow you to work in close to trees, shrubs and flower beds, meaning less time spent on the string trimmer cleaning things up.

Compared to Commercial Models
While they may share many of the same features as those found on their more robust commercial cousins, residential models are often going to have less powerful engines, lighter weight frames, smaller mowing decks equipped with two rather than three blades and manual rather than powered deck lifts. You may find the deck tends to be belt rather than shaft driven too.

Expected Carefree Running Hours
Those purchasing a quality home use mower should expect 450-500 running hours with only minimal costs for upkeep. To put this into perspective, say you spend an hour a week on the mower during the growing season. You might run your machine maybe 40 hours at the most. So you've get years of lifespan with these lawn care machines. Besides, you'll probably get tired of or want to trade up for a new one before yours gives up the ghost anyway.

Who Are They Best For?
If your forty acres measures an acre or less, is fairly level and smooth then you will find a commercial grade machine to be over kill. And you'll likely be happy with many of the mowers targeted to the residential market.

What About the Price?
If you compare the price between regular mowers and the zero turn mowers, you will really be shocked at the huge difference. And that means going from a $200-regular model to a whopping $2,000-$4,000. You may not realize this now, but later on, you will appreciate how you're able to save in the long run. Cutting your cutting time in half would mean cutting your consumption in fuel as well. That means savings not just on time but on money as well.

With residential zero turn mowers, you get the real deal. They may be somewhat pricey, but how can you put a price tag on neighborhood envy as all stop and stare at you as you race across your yard with skill and dexterity your envious neighbors can only dream about!
